About the Tour
Our trip starts in Dhaka, where we’ll pick you up at the airport and take you to a nearby hotel. You’ll have the rest of the day free so you can relax or explore, depending on how you’re feeling. After a day of exploring, we head back to Dhaka. The following morning, we travel to Sreemangal (known as the “Capital of Tea”). Along the way, we will stop to enjoy local sights and observe everyday life in different districts. You’ll have a chance to visit distant Khasi villages, where you can spend time with locals in their homes and learn about their Betel Nut growing methods. We will also visit the Manipuri tribe, well-known for their beautiful handicrafts. Sreemangal is famous for its lush tea gardens and the unique seven-layer tea experience. We can explore Lawachara National Park to see endangered animals like the Hoolock Gibbon. After spending two nights in Sreemangal, on the fifth day we travel back to Dhaka for an overnight stay. The next day, we discover the colorful capital city before an early morning drive to Barishal over the Padma River Bridge (the biggest bridge in Bangladesh). In the evening, we tour behind the scenes of this southern city. Early the next morning, we experience life on the Ganges delta, with floating markets, brick factories, and bazaars. Later, we explore the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bagerhat, where you’ll see fascinating temples, mosques, and cemeteries, then spend the night at a hotel either in Khulna or Mongla.
The following morning, our adventure takes us into the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, for three days and two nights aboard a houseboat. Each night, we anchor in different places, cruising through quiet waterways. Keep an eye out for Bengal tigers, spotted deer, river dolphins, wild boars, otters, monkeys, saltwater crocodiles, and birds in their natural environment. After these three exciting days, we stay overnight at Khulna or Mongla. On the twelfth day, we drive north to Rajshahi, visiting the Royal Palace of Natore and the Temple Sanctuary of Puthia, known as the crown jewel of Hindu architecture in Bangladesh. We spend the night at a hotel in Rajshahi.
The next day, we continue to Porsha in Naogaon District for a day with friendly villagers, where you can stay in a mud house, cook with clay ovens fueled by dried cow dung, and enjoy evenings lit by lamps. Watch farmers harvest their fields with bulls amid endless green crops. On the same day, we cross the Padma (Ganges) River’s sandbank to visit remote tribal villages on an island that partly lies in India, then return to our lodging. Afterwards, we visit the Somapura Mahavihara, a Buddhist monastery built in the 8th century AD under King Dharmapala of the Pala Dynasty, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 due to its cultural importance. We end the day with a visit to the Kusumba Mosque, built between 1558 and 1559. On the fifteenth and final day, we can drop you off at the airport or help arrange your onward travel so you leave with wonderful memories of this journey.
